Skills & Attributes help you tag important qualifications and characteristics across your workforce. It ensures employees are matched with the right shifts.

How it Works
Skills vs. Attributes
Skills
- Time-sensitive qualifications that can start and expire.
- Examples: First Aid Certified, Forklift License, Manager Qualified
- Useful when a certification requires renewal.
Attributes
- Permanent traits that don’t expire.
- Examples: Bilingual, Full-time Employee, Team Lead
- Useful for characteristics that rarely or never change.
Company-Level Setup
Administrators create the master list of skills and attributes.
Each item includes:
- A name
- A type (skill or attribute)
These definitions are shared across the entire organisation.
Location-Level Behaviour
Each skill or attribute can be configured differently per location:
- Limit which locations can use it
- Mark it as required by default
- Control visibility on the roster and shift views
Employee-Level Assignments
Managers with the correct permissions can assign skills and attributes to employees.
These assignments determine whether an employee is eligible for certain shifts.
Shift-Level Requirements
Shifts can include specific skills or attributes to indicate what is needed for that shift.
Shift Access
Employees will not be able to see open shifts that they don’t have the right skills or attributes for.
Managers are allowed to override skill or attribute requirements by assigning a shift directly to an employee, but they will be shown a warning first.
