🎯 Overview
Track training, shadow shifts, unfunded shifts, sickness, and annual leave hours across your organisation in one place.
This report:
- Surfaces total hours by category — training, shadow shifts, unfunded shifts, sickness, and annual leave
- Breaks each category down by location with both summary totals and a detail table
- Excludes sleep shifts from the underlying data
Use this dashboard to:
- Review SALT (Sickness, Annual Leave, Training, and related categories) hours over a chosen period
- Compare hour totals across locations and identify outliers
- Pull a detail list of individual sickness, annual leave, training, shadow, and unfunded shifts for a deeper look
➕ Benefits
- See sickness, annual leave, training, shadow, and unfunded shift hours side by side, without rebuilding the view from scratch
- Drill from a headline total straight into the employee-level records driving it
- Adjust the date window, location, role, or employee to focus on the slice that matters
🗂️ Dashboard Tabs
This is a single-page dashboard organised into category sections — training, shadow shifts, unfunded shifts, sickness, and annual leave — each with a total, a location breakdown, and a detail table.
Data by section
Each category section follows the same three-card pattern: a scalar total, a location breakdown chart, and a detail table. The SALT Latest Data Sync indicator at the top of the tab shows when the data was last refreshed.
- Total Sickness Hours / Sickness Hours by Location / Sickness Data — total sickness hours over the selected window, a bar chart of sickness hours per Base Location, and a detail table listing each absence with Employee ID, Employee, Role, Base Location, absence start and end, Day Absent in Range, Working Hours Absent in Range, and Reason.
- Total Annual Leave Hours / Annual Leave Hours by Location / Annual Leave Data — same three-card pattern for holiday and annual leave absences. Working Hours Absent in Range is calculated from the employee's shifts that fall inside the filter window, so partial overlaps with the selected dates only count the portion that falls inside.
- Total Training Hours / Training Data by Location / Training Data — total training hours, hours by Location, and a detail table of each training shift with employee, role, location, and shift times. Training shifts are identified either by shift type containing "train" or by type of work being "training".
- Total Shadow Shift Hours / Shadow Shift Data by Location / Shadow Shift Data — total shadow shift hours, a location breakdown, and a detail list. Shadow shifts are identified by shift type containing "shadow".
-
Total Unfunded Shift Hours / Unfunded Shift by Location / Unfunded Shifts Data — totals, location breakdown, and detail list for shift types

| Breaks Included | Yes | When set to Yes, shift lengths include breaks; when set to No, break duration is deducted from each shift's hours. |
📅 Date Filtering
Start Date and End Date drive every category section on the dashboard. When both are left blank, the dashboard defaults to the previous full Monday-to-Sunday week in your organisation's timezone.
For sickness and annual leave, Working Hours Absent in Range counts only the portion of each absence that overlaps the selected window, so an absence that begins before your Start Date or ends after your End Date is partially counted.
❗️ Important Definitions
-
Unfunded shifts — shifts logged under
Travel,Staff 121,Other Meeting,Group Session, orTeam Meeting. These are working hours that aren't tied to a funded client-facing shift. - Working Hours Absent in Range — for sickness and annual leave, the sum of the employee's scheduled shift hours that fall inside your selected date window and overlap the absence period. This is different from the raw absence length: an absence with no underlying shifts will report zero working hours absent, and only the in-range portion of a long absence is counted.
❓ Common Questions
Why are the absence rows showing zero Working Hours Absent in Range?
Working Hours Absent in Range is calculated from the employee's rostered shifts that fall inside the filter window. If the employee had no shifts scheduled during the absence — or the absence falls entirely outside your Start Date / End Date — the working hours will be zero even though the absence itself appears in the list.
Do break times affect the totals?
Yes. The Breaks Included filter controls this. When set to Yes (the default), shift lengths include break time; when set to No, break duration is deducted from each shift before hours are summed across all five categories.
